Suzuki introduces the new 4-stroke Suzuki 350 Zs engine – Suzuki DF350A V6<\/p>\n
The new flagship presents the innovative combined rotation propellers, they are two, each rotating in the opposite direction.<\/p>\n
350 horsepower and a 12.0:1 cylinder compression ratio<\/p>\n
Engineers have achieved 350 horsepower while keeping the Suzuki outboard still compact and light. The working volume of the powerful engine from 4.4 liters will be supplemented with a high compression ratio of 12.0: 1, it will be the highest in the production of outboard engines. A unique cool air intake system, dual fuel injectors and reinforced pistons make the engine quieter and eliminate engine noise, a typical byproduct of high compression engines.<\/p>\n
Suzuki Dual air intake (Dual Louver)<\/p>\n
and direct air intake systems<\/p>\n
Suzuki engineers have created an air intake system that provides the power unit with plenty of fresh air while separating water, splashes and moisture. Dual vents under the hood stop larger water droplets and moisture from entering the hood, so there was zero water at the air intake during testing. In addition, the intake air temperature is on average 10 \u00b0 degrees cooler than the ambient air temperature, which provides cooler air to the combustion chamber, increasing engine power.<\/p>\n
Dual fuel injection nozzles<\/p>\n
Two smaller fuel nozzles inject fuel precisely into the center of the combustion chamber, which prevents fuel from burning on the side of the combustion chamber, where this imprecise combustion can be the main cause of engine noise. In addition, if 100% of the fuel is injected into the cylinder at once, some cooling is achieved, gaining up to 3% additional power and reducing engine detonation noise.<\/p>\n
New pistons and their preparation technology<\/p>\n
To reach 350 horsepower, the piston surfaces must be additionally prepared to withstand the additional forces. To ensure both performance and longevity, Suzuki engineers changed the standard heat treatment to “shot peening”. beautiful fresh pits in contact with the pistons, which would evenly equalize the pressure during combustion. In addition, the connecting rods, crankshaft and other engine components are also reinforced to withstand the additional load.<\/p>\n
Suzuki Twin Propeller System<\/p>\n
Combined rotation propellers have not been a new technology, nor have they ever been successful in the outboard motor segment, but they were until now… The new DF350A has two propellers (twins) providing three main benefits, compact size, more stability and more “thrust.”<\/p>\n
The power of the engine is transferred to a six-bladed propeller instead of just three, this allows to reduce the size of the reducer housing, the size of the gears to a minimum, which in turn made it possible to design a slimmer and more hydrodynamic reducer housing. Suzuki engineers devoted many hours to computer simulations and on-water tests, knowing that reducing gearbox vibration and drag underwater was essential to improving the overall speed and performance of the powerboat.<\/p>\n
Combined rotary propellers also provide additional propeller blade area, increasing stability and increasing ‘thrust’ and ‘grip’ on the water. (Similar to a wider-sized car tire compared to a normal tire.) This results in excellent acceleration (eliminating steering resistance), better-than-expected top speed and incredibly good reverse. More importantly, these improvements are even with heavier boats with a full tank of fuel, equipment and people.<\/p>\n
Suzuki technologies<\/p>\n
The DF350A features Suzuki Precision Control, Drive-by-wire shifter and throttle lever (engine control via electrical cables instead of mechanical cables). Boat drivers will appreciate the smooth shifting when moving the throttle control lever, not to mention the easier engine installation and connection of a second control station.<\/p>\n
Like other Suzuki V6 outboard engines, the new DF350A is equipped with an Offset crankshaft, reducing engine dimensions and providing a two-stage gear reduction, which further provides a higher reduction ratio of 2.29 : 1) with more torque and greater acceleration.<\/p>\n
The new engines are more compact and will take up less space on the motorboat trench if you want to install more than one boat engine.<\/p>\n
The new DF350A also uses Suzuki’s Lean Burn fuel control technologies to improve fuel economy throughout the rev range, and especially at cruising speed. Like all Suzuki 4-stroke engines, the DF350A is very quiet at idle.<\/p>\n
As you can see, in creating this new engine, Suzuki is not only bringing horsepower to the market, but also innovation, ease of use and comfort. While maintaining the importance of power and speed, a lot of thought and work goes into engine size, fuel economy, reliability and stability, making the New Suzuki DF350A the Ultimate 4-stroke outboard!<\/p>\n
